Steve Kiraly

Stephen has been playing a brass instrument from the age of 10 years. He started out playing at Christian Brothers High School, Lewisham in Sydney, and joined Warringah Concert Brass in 1990 after a chance meeting with Jack Saunders in a music store (long story). He has played Cornet, Baritone, Tenor Horn and Euphonium. He currently plays EE Flat Tuba with the band. He has participated in many solo events - state and national championships over the years. He has been with the band since 1990 (with a 4 year break between 1997 and 2000).

There are too many highlights to mention here - however 2005 and 2006 was a great time from a contesting, concert and friendship perspective where the band improved immensely and was granted A grade status once more.

What I like most of all about the band is that it has the ability to rise against adversity and lift at the right moments, and the great musical direction of John in bringing out the best from all the players in the band.
