I started playing tuba at age 13 after I walked into my local band in Adelaide and was told by the conductor “You will be learning the EEb Bass”.

After completing High School I initially started a Bachelor of Computer Science before the musician inside of me really woke up. I had a bit of success in solo competitions in Adelaide and then decided to transfer to a Music Degree where I studied under Peter Whish-Wilson.

Since then I have played in a variety of ensembles, including a (proper) German Band, an Italian Festival Band, Army Bands, Brass Quintets, Wind Ensembles, Orchestras and BRASS BANDS.

Highlights of my musical life include going to the Proms concerts in London, (soon) hearing the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under Zubin Mehta, playing in the 2004 Japan Self-Defence Force Marching Festival, and performing in front of the Queen at the 2002 Edinburgh Military Tattoo in Scotland.

I have recently returned to Brass Banding after 3 ˝ years in Wagga Wagga where there is sadly no brass band.

In my spare time, I like to go cycling and in particular, Mountain Bike riding.

Last year I visited a few German tuba factories to look for a C tuba to use in Concert Bands:
