Simon Sweeney
Simon is a professional jazz and comercial trumpeter on the Sydney scene. He grew up in the Warringah Shire and is a product of the Forest High School's band program where he studied under Steve Williams.
His professional theatre credits include: - West Side Story, Miss Saigon, The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber, Crazy For You, My Fair Lady, The Boy From Oz, Chicago, Annie, Oliver, Cabaret, The Threepenny Opera, Republic of Myopia, End of the Rainbow, Dusty and Priscilla Queen of the Desert, the Musical. Simon is currently playing in the orchestra for the show Billy Elliot at the Capitol theatre in Sydney.
He has played with Margaret Urlich, Kylie Minogue, Human Nature, Silverchair (live at the ARIAs) and Thirsty Merc. His jazz credits include touring and recording with Mike Nock, performing with the Gordon Brisker Big Band and recording with Dave Panichi. In 2002 he released his debut album "Emerald City Blues" to critical acclaim on the Jazzgroove label.
Simon has extensive recording credits including playing on the soundtracks of movies such as "The Bank", "The Extra", "Kokoda" and most recently he was featured as a soloist on the soundtrack of the Academy Award winning animated film "Happy Feet". Simon can also be heard on many advertisements eg. Paddy's Markets, 3 Mobile, Mastercard, West End beer, Hahn Premium Light, Shangri La Hotels, NIB Health Insurance, Channel 9 cricket fanfare etc.
