Kevin Dallas
Kevin attended his first National Championship Contest at London’s famous Albert Hall as a keen young listener way back in 1962! That year the famous Manchester CWS Band under Alex Mortimer won with their performance of “The Force of Destiny”. Kevin was hooked!! At that time he had already plated in the Salvation Army junior Bands in South Wales, Bristol and Birmingham.
In 1967 he moved to London and became 2nd Chair Euphonium with the then Tottenham Citadel Band, taking over that position from the now well known Professor Edward Gregson. In 1972 the Band became known as the Enfield Citadel Band and Kevin undertook many Concerts, Tours, and Recordings with the Band and their legendary Bandmaster James Williams (Jim is still conducting the Band today 81 years young!!)
In 1980 the Band undertook a 5 week tour of New Zealand and Australia. Kevin returned to live permanently with his young family to Sydney in 1982, taking up the 1st Baritone with the Sydney Congress Hall Band. During his ten years with the Band he toured both North America and in 1991 the United Kingdom when he was both 2nd Chair Euphonium and the Bands Deputy Bandmaster. After a 12 year break Kevin is thrilled to be back playing with such a fine group of young people at Warringah Concert Brass, when not practicing the Baritone he is busy organising the First ever Tour to Australia of the Exciting YBS Band with their dynamic Musical Director David King. Kevin and his business partner Robert Turner have set up a company (Brass Down Under) specifically to look at ways of promoting excellence in Brass performance.
