Glenda Lloyd

Glenda began playing the trombone at the age of 14 under the guidance of Baden McCarron, Soon after, she joined the Willoughby City Band. She played in Willoughby Band on trombone for many years as they won numerous A Grade national and state titles. She has also played in various other bands, orchestras and musical productions throughout these years.

Playing the trombone was always treated as a very enjoyable hobby for Glenda, as her career path moved into Chartered Accounting and eventually motherhood. She finally decided to give the trombone and Willoughby Band a rest when she was 8 months pregnant with her first child (the uniform wouldn’t fit any longer!)

After contributing 4 new citizens to the Australian population and realizing that they also enjoyed music, she found John Saunders as a teacher for her 2 sons (who have both chosen brass instruments). Two weeks later, John invited the boys to join Warringah Youth Band, but only on the condition they bring their mother with them to play in the senior band. They dutifully obliged and, once again she’s playing 2nd trombone with a great bunch of people, enjoying it immensely, and off to Launceston, Tasmania in 2004 for the nationals.
