Rebecca Sutherland
After several sad and lonely years of playing piano, Rebecca was keen to play an instrument with other people. Briefly tempted to learn the flute, she saw the error of her ways when a brass band conductor (Bob Petrie) arrived at her primary school and offered free lessons and instruments. Rebecca was too slow when lining up for instruments to get a cornet, so quickly learned to love the tenor horn. After two glorious years on tenor horn, she finally got to play a cornet when she joined the City of Orange Brass Band. Fourteen happy years filled with brass bands (including State Youth Band), stage bands, orchestras, musical productions, great concert bands (including Uni of Newcastle wind orchestra), not-so-great concert bands (that shall remain nameless) passed by and Rebecca finally found herself in Sydney and part of the fabulous Warringah Concert Brass. After a couple of years on cornet, she finally returned to tenor horn and so the great circle has been completed!
